Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound Italian sausage sweet, mild, or spicy, whole or sliced
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil optional, for extra crispness
  • 1 medium bell pepper sliced, optional for serving
  • 1 small onion sliced, optional for serving
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder optional, for added depth of flavor
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls optional, for making sandwiches
  • ½ cup marinara sauce optional, for serving

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) to ensure even cooking and crisping.
  • Place the sausages in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Leave space between each link for even air circulation.
  • Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the sausages are browned and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • If adding peppers and onions, toss them in olive oil and place them in the air fryer basket for the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  • Remove from the air fryer and let rest for 2 minutes before serving.
  • Serve whole with sides, slice into rounds for pasta, or place in a hoagie roll with marinara sauce for an Italian sausage sandwich.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, brush sausages with olive oil before cooking.
  • If cooking from frozen, add 2-3 extra minutes to the cooking time.
  • Peppers and onions can be roasted separately in the air fryer for an additional 5-7 minutes at 375°F.
