Ingredients
  

  • 2 steaks New York strip steak 1 to 1.5 inches thick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for coating the steak
  • 1 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder optional, for extra depth
  • 2 tablespoons butter for finishing

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) to ensure an even sear and proper cooking.
  • Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel, then rub them with olive oil. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Place the steaks in a single layer inside the air fryer basket, ensuring space for proper airflow.
  • Air fry for 8-10 minutes for medium-rare, 10-12 minutes for medium, and 12-14 minutes for well-done. Flip the steaks halfway through cooking.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check doneness. The internal temperature should be 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, 140°F (60°C) for medium, and 150°F (65°C) for well-done.
  • Remove the steaks from the air fryer and top each with a tablespoon of butter. Let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For a richer crust, brush the steaks with melted butter during the last 2 minutes of cooking.
  • Adjust seasonings based on preference. Adding smoked paprika or steak seasoning provides extra depth.
  • Pair with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.
