Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound spicy Italian sausage removed from casing
  • 1 pound rigatoni pasta cooked
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes 14.5 oz
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for sautéing

Instructions
 

  • Cook the rigatoni pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  • Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Then, stir in the crushed tomatoes and let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and red pepper flakes. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  • Add the cooked rigatoni to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Serve the pasta with extra Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your desired level of heat.
  • You can also add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • For a lighter version, you can use **lean turkey sausage** and **half-and-half** instead of heavy cream.
