Equipment

  • Air-fryer For cooking the toast evenly
  • Spoon For creating an indent in the bread
  • Tongs For safely removing the toast from the air fryer

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread thick-cut, such as sourdough or brioche
  • 2 large eggs fresh for best results
  • 1 tablespoon butter softened, for spreading on the bread
  • ½ teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper freshly ground, optional
  • ¼ cup shredded cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or parmesan, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for even cooking.
  • Use a spoon to gently press an indent in the center of each bread slice, creating space for the egg.
  • Spread a thin layer of butter on both sides of the bread for extra crispiness.
  • Crack an egg into each indent, keeping the yolk intact.
  • Season with salt and black pepper, and sprinkle cheese on top if desired.
  • Air fry for 6-8 minutes, or until the egg white is fully set while the yolk remains soft. Cook longer for a firmer yolk.
  • Carefully remove the toast with tongs and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use thicker bread slices to prevent the egg from spilling over the edges.
  • For a richer flavor, drizzle a little hot sauce or add crispy bacon bits before serving.
  • Pair with fresh fruit, avocado, or a side of breakfast potatoes for a complete meal.
