Equipment

  • Air-fryer
  • Peeler
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Pastry brush
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe plantains
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Pinch of salt

For the Optional Dipping Sauce:

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon lime zest

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F.
  • Peel the plantains and slice them into ¼-inch thick diagonal pieces.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the plantain slices, brown sugar, cinnamon, oil, and a pinch of salt. Toss until plantains are evenly coated.
  • Arrange the plantain slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  • Air fry for 8-10 minutes, turning halfway through, until the plantains are golden brown and caramelized.
  • Mix the Greek yogurt, honey, and lime zest together to make the dipping sauce.
  • Serve the sweet plantains immediately with the dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Choosing plantains with nearly black skins ensures maximum sweetness.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.
  • Reheat in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes to retain their crispiness before serving.
