Simple Air Fryer Apple Pie

Jump to Recipe

Air fryer apple pie is where comfort food meets convenience, and what's better than that, a quick-baked take on classic American apple pie cooked in a hot-air convection appliance at about 350°F? We can whip it up in no time, often in 20-30 minutes from start to finish, and impress everyone around us without breaking a sweat.

Remember the times we craved a slice of that warm, gooey goodness but were too lazy to haul out the oven?

Those days are gone!

With the air fryer on our side, we can skip the fuss and still enjoy that flaky crust and cinnamon-spiced filling we love. Just picture sinking your fork into a slice that's perfectly cooked and oh-so-delicious.

It's like a hug from grandma, minus the hours spent waiting.

Get ready for something scrumptious that'll make us all want seconds!

Ingredients for Air Fryer Apple Pie

Here's what you'll need to whip up this classic comfort dessert:

  • Pie Crust: Store-bought or homemade-no judgment here, just bring on the flaky goodness!
  • Apples: About 6 cups of your favourite varieties, sliced thin-Fuji and Granny Smith are a match made in heaven.
  • Granulated Sugar: A couple of tablespoons to sweeten the deal-because what's apple pie without a little sweetness?
  • Brown Sugar: For that deep, caramel-like flavour that brings everything together-yes, please!
  • Cinnamon: A must-have spice that screams "fall" and makes your kitchen smell heavenly!
  • Nutmeg (optional): Just a pinch for an extra warm kick, if you're feeling fancy!
  • Lemon Juice: To keep those apples from going brown and to brighten the flavour.

Tips for Perfect Air Fryer Apple Pie

Want to ensure your apple pie steals the show? Here are some sweet pro tips:

  • Pre-cook the Apples: Sauté the sliced apples in a bit of butter and sugar for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened before filling the pie; it helps to release their juices and makes for a yum-tastic filling!
  • Don't Overfill: Keep an eye on the amount of filling you add; overzealous fillings might leak out during cooking-let's keep it neat and tidy, and consult easy air-fryer-friendly portions for more.
  • Crust Love: Brush the top crust with an egg wash (1 beaten egg plus 1 teaspoon water) and sprinkle some sugar for that gorgeous golden-brown finish-nobody likes a sad-looking pie!

Serving Suggestions

Once your air fryer apple pie emerges looking all scrumptious and heavenly, here are some fun ways to serve it:

  • Vanilla Ice Cream: Top it with a scoop (or three) of vanilla ice cream, especially vanilla bean, the cold creamy contrast that melts into the warm filling, because, let's be real, it's the perfect partner for warm pie.
  • Whipped Cream: Add a dollop of freshly whipped cream on top for a classic twist-who can resist?
  • Cinnamon Sugar Dusting: Lightly sprinkle some cinnamon sugar on top before serving for that extra zing-yes, dessert can be extra!
