Crispy Air Fryer Beet Chips

Jump to Recipe

Who doesn't love a good crunch? We're all about those crispy snacks that don't leave us feeling guilty.

Beet chips are exactly that! - thinly sliced beets crisped in the air fryer until crunchy, with a naturally sweet, earthy flavor, and a naturally gluten-free, lower-fat alternative to fried potato chips. They're bright, tasty, and way easier to make than we thought.

We were skeptical at first, but after giving them a whirl in the air fryer, it was a total win. Once you try these, you'll never look at beets the same way again.

They're not just for salads anymore.

We might even start throwing them into lunch bags instead of regular chips.

Get ready to enjoy a healthier snack that struts its stuff with flair. Let's whip up some beet chips and crunch in style!

Ingredients for Air Fryer Beet Chips

Grab your apron and let's gather the bright goodies to make those beet chips pop:

  • Beets: About 2-3 medium-sized ones. Go for the ones that scream "I'm fresh and fabulous" at the store!
  • Olive Oil: Just a drizzle to help them get that perfect crispy edges.
  • Salt: Essential for that extra umami kick-because we all know salt is life!
  • Optional Seasonings: Think garlic powder, paprika, or even a sprinkle of cinnamon if you're feeling adventurous.

Easy peasy, right? Your snacking dreams are about to come true!

Tips for Perfect Air Fryer Beet Chips

Check out these handy tips to make your chips the bell of the snack party alongside easy air fryer wings or air fryer apple chips for sweet snacks:

  • Slice Like a Pro: Use a mandoline slicer to get those perfect, thin rounds (about 1/16-inch thick).
  • Dry Them Off: Give those beet slices a little patdown with a paper towel after washing to remove surface water so they crisp up better in the air fryer.
  • Shake It Up: Toss the beet slices in a bowl with olive oil and salt-get those hands involved! You want every slice to feel the love.

Variations and Substitutions

Feeling funky with your beet chips? Here are some tasty twists to keep your palate guessing, plus moist cornbread ideas for sides.

  • Spicy Beet Chips: Add a sprinkle of cayenne for a chip with a kick! (about ⅛ teaspoon per 2 beets)
  • Herbaceous Delight: Mix in some dried herbs like rosemary or thyme for a fancy touch that would make any garden proud - start with about ¼ teaspoon dried herbs per 2 beets.
  • Sweet and Salty: Drizzle a bit of honey or maple syrup along with salt for that sweet-savory combo that will have you going back for more like it's a Friday night binge session.

Serving Suggestions

Once you've nailed the art of beet-chip-making, here's how to serve them up like a pro:

  • Solo Star: Serve them in a chic bowl all by themselves. They're so beautiful, they deserve the spotlight!
  • With Dips: Pair them with some creamy dip-think ranch, tzatziki (a Greek yogurt-cucumber sauce), or even our stellar baba ganoush.
  • Crunchy Salad Toppers: Crumble them over a fresh salad, especially over arugula or baby spinach, for an unexpected crunchy surprise. Who knew salads could be fun, right?

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F.
  • Slice the beets thinly using a mandoline or knife-think potato chip thin!
  • In a mixing bowl, toss the beet slices with olive oil and salt (and any optional seasonings). Make sure they're well-coated!
  • Place the beet slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even crispiness.
  • Once they're crunchy and delicious looking, take them out and let them cool for a minute-if you can resist the urge to dive in!
  • Serve them up on a platter and watch your friends' jaws drop. Seriously, these are chip goals!

Notes

  • Keep an eye on them, as cooking times can vary depending on how thinly you sliced those beets.
  • Beet chips are best enjoyed fresh, but if you have leftovers (what?!), store them in an airtight container. Happy snacking!
