Air Fryer Stuffed Tomatoes: Bursting with Flavor!

Jump to Recipe

We think it's time for a snack that's not just tasty, but also pretty darn easy to whip up! Introducing our air fryer stuffed tomatoes-tomato cups filled with cheese and herbs and cooked in an air fryer at about 375°F until tender!

These little gems are tomato cups filled with all the goodies we love-think cheese, herbs, and everything nice (with their creamy, melty centers).

The first time we had these, it was a total "where have you been all my life?" moment. They're fantastic for a quick bite during movie night or to impress guests when they pop over.

You'll be the superstar of the snack table.

Trust us, stuffed tomatoes are about to become your new best friend in the kitchen! So, grab those tomatoes and let's get stuffing!

Air Fryer Stuffed Tomatoes: full of flavor! Save for Later!

Ingredients for Air Fryer Stuffed Tomatoes

Here's what you'll need to whip up these little flavour bombs-don't worry, it's a snap!

  • Large Tomatoes: About 4-6, depending on how hungry you are (we won't judge!).
  • Cream Cheese: Grab about ½ cup to make the filling ultra-creamy-because, why not?
  • Shredded Cheese: A blend of mozzarella and cheddar works wonders-about 1 cup, your call on the cheese life!
  • Garlic Powder: A dash will do; we want flavour without sending vampires running.
  • Fresh Herbs: Basil, parsley, or whatever green magic you have lying around-about ¼ cup, chopped.
  • Salt and Pepper: To taste, because no one wants bland tomatoes!

Easy-peasy! Now let's get ready to stuff those beauties and set the air fryer on fire (metaphorically, of course).

Tips for Perfect Air Fryer Stuffed Tomatoes

Want to knock your stuffed tomatoes out of the park? Keep these pro tips in mind:

  • Choose the Right Tomatoes: Look for ripe, firm tomatoes that can handle a good stuffing without falling apart, like Roma or small beefsteaks about 3-4 inches across.
  • Don't Overfill: While we love a good stuffing, don't go overboard! Leave a bit of room at the top (about ¼ inch) so they can cook evenly and not explode into tomato confetti.
  • Cook in Batches: If you're making a big batch, don't be afraid to cook them in rounds; you can also make air fryer chicken wings made simple in the same fryer, or try easy air-fryer stuffed-pepper ideas for another stuffed-vegetable option.

Variations and Substitutions

Feeling adventurous? Give these stuffed tomatoes a twist with these fun ideas:

  • Spicy Kick: Add some diced jalapeños or a few dashes of hot sauce to the filling for some excitement! Start with one small jalapeño for mild heat and adjust to taste.
  • Meat Lovers' Delight: Brown some ground sausage or beef and mix it into the filling for a protein-packed option. Serve it alongside moist cornbread variations for hearty sides.
  • Mediterranean Vibes: Swap the cream cheese for feta (a brined sheep's-milk cheese) and toss in some olives or sun-dried tomatoes for a Greek-inspired treat.

Serving Suggestions

Now that you've got your stuffed tomatoes cooked to perfection, here's how to serve them up:

  • As a Side Dish: Pair these tomatoes with grilled chicken or fish for a fancy meal that'll impress anyone who walks through your door.
  • On a Bed of Greens: Serve them over a leafy salad for a fresh and light combo-health goals, here we come! Try arugula (peppery) or mixed greens with a squeeze of lemon to cut the richness.
  • Snack Attack: Honestly, these beauties can stand alone as the ultimate snack! Just grab one, dive in, and enjoy without a single shred of guilt.
