Tips for Perfect Air Fryer Shishito Peppers

Ensure tasty shishito peppers with these handy tips:

  • Single Layer Love: Lay the peppers in a single layer in the air fryer basket to ensure they cook evenly, the same single-layer approach helps with sausage and peppers cooking tips.
  • Don't Overcrowd: Give them space to breathe and crisp up nicely.
  • Shake It Up: Give the basket a good shake halfway through the cooking time to make sure all peppers get equal love.
  • Watch Closely: Keep an eye on them as they can go from wrinkly to burnt faster than you'd think, since their thin walls blister quickly (often within a minute or two once blistering begins).

Variations and Add-Ons

Customize your Air Fryer Shishito Peppers with these fantastic variations:

  • Spicy Peppers: Add a pinch of chili flakes if you're feeling adventurous (about ⅛ teaspoon per pound for a gentle heat).
  • Ginger Soy Peppers: Toss the cooked peppers in a mixture of soy sauce, roughly 1 tablespoon soy, 1 teaspoon grated ginger, and a touch (about 1 teaspoon) of honey.
  • Cheesy Peppers: Sprinkle some parmesan cheese over the hot peppers for a melty finish.
